CHALLENGE

The operating problem

Altus was appointed to improve speech privacy, reduce sound transfer and enhance meeting quality within a series of executive offices, boardrooms and collaboration spaces operating inside a high-traffic commercial environment.

The existing office environment suffered from significant sound transfer between rooms, excessive reverberation and poor acoustic control caused by hard surfaces, open-plan layouts, glazed partitions and limited acoustic treatment. This was negatively impacting meeting quality, concentration, privacy and the effectiveness of hybrid collaboration spaces.

Acoustic performance

  • Excessive echo and reverberation
  • Speech intelligibility issues during meetings
  • Sound transfer between adjacent rooms

Workplace experience

  • Reduced privacy for confidential discussions
  • Noise disruption within open collaboration areas
  • Poor audio quality during hybrid meetings

Infrastructure constraints

  • Acoustic upgrades required within a live operational environment
  • Minimal disruption during installation works
  • Requirement to maintain premium interior aesthetics

APPROACH

How Altus delivered

Altus designed and implemented a targeted acoustic treatment and sound isolation programme tailored to the operational and architectural requirements of the workspace.

Acoustic treatment

  • Installation of high-performance acoustic wall treatments
  • Ceiling-mounted sound absorption systems
  • Targeted reverberation reduction across meeting spaces

Sound isolation

  • Enhanced partition acoustic performance
  • Sound leakage reduction between executive spaces
  • Improved speech privacy and meeting confidentiality

Workspace optimisation

  • Acoustic tuning for hybrid conferencing environments
  • Integration with existing AV and collaboration systems
  • Minimal-disruption phased installation programme
